10 Things That Changed Hip Hop This Past Decade, The 3.5 spot

So when I originally compiled this expert list, I left two individuals out. The list should been twelve but 10 looks better. So here in the infamous 3.5 spot, is two individuals who will be mentioned in the history of hip hop.

The College Dropout- Rappers are not thugs, rappers are not drug kingpins and hit-men. They personify themselves in the American ideology that bad is cool. Kanye West caused a shift in popular hip hop. Take yourself back, it is the beginning of this millennium and most rappers are affiliated with the street. Being street meant that you were up to no good, mean, overly-aggressive, emotional, and you were a success for surving. In comes this guy wearing polos. We take a look at him because his beats were on point. What happened? We loved him.

He kept us interested in him. He was not a thug in the least. What was he? He was that self conscience artist who is super confident. What other established rapper can go from being one of the top rated rappers, into being the singing a whole album with an electronic voice enhancement program. He covered what love and what that is entirely in an album. He also gets super fresh. He can dress, there is no doubt about it.

T-Pain- I was never a fan the autotune sound. From the start I thought that it was interesting for a song or 2 but an album, no. But it was a hit. In the years that ended this decade T-Pain was what Nate Dogg was in the 90's. He was the go to singer. If you needed a hit or wanted to be popular you would call him for the new sound.

Every popular rapper bit afterward off him. Certain people did it cool. Lil Wayne, Kanye West used it for their albums. He did that many songs with it. The autotune sound was then used by that many people. Ron Browz used it in some songs that did not even need (Gimmie 20 dollas!!) Other people used it as their crutch.

Is there going to be a turn around? Well earlier this summer, Jay-Z released Death of Autotune. Does that mean the end for him and this sound? Possibly. What ever happens with this sound ultimately this era will be remembered.
